Acquiring of registration numbers from JPJ can be made in either JPJ branch, Wilayah or Selangor depending on your preference. Wilayah number will always begin with the alphabet W and B for Selangor.
However, buying registration number can be made in several ways,
Jumping/Selected numbers directly from JPJ branch

C.Buying Running or Buying of Registration Numbers from Agent.
A. Tender From JPJ
Instructions and required documents.
1. Copy of:
a. Inpidual - Applicant’s IC front & back
b. Company - Registration Form 9/13, Form 49, Form 24 and Form 44
2. A bankers’ check/draft or postal money made payable to “Ketua Pengarah Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia”
3. Amount need to be paid is 30% of the intended tender amount or a minimum of RM200, whichever that is higher.
4. Completed stamped and signed JPJ MV10 form. Form can be downloaded from http://portal.jpj.gov.my/v5/index.php/ms/panduan-memohon-nombor-pendaftaran-kenderaan/dokumen-yang-diperlukan, alternatively you may contact Wheelersgate to request the form and we will gladly to mail it to you for free.
5. All the required forms and documents are to be inserted into a stamp paid envelop titled “TEMPAHAN NOMBOR PENDAFTARAN” with your correspondent address on the outside.
6. The application can be submitted personally at respective JPJ branches or via your appointed agent (in this case, the agent might include a service charge).
Tips – Always begin your tender after checking the previous tender result. By this you can estimate the average value of your desired number and as well to prevent under or over tendered value. However make sure you are not in a hurry to register your vehicle as tendering of registration numbers will normally takes up to at least 3 to 4 weeks.
B. Buying Running/Jumping/Selected numbers directly from JPJ branch
Instructions and required documents,
1.Car owner must be present at JPJ Branch with their original IC.
2.Running number will be shown on screen live allowing you to see numbers that are still available. You may choose any number on the screen with the fee of RM250.00.
3.However if your desired number is not shown on the screen you can chose to jump the running numbers that are not the series, i.e. current running series is WSP 2000-2999 but you wanted the number WSP 8218, you may purchase it for the price of RM350.00
4.To buy jumping number you cannot refer to the screen and therefore you need to refer to the counter for availability.
5.If you are still unable to find your desired number, you can check for reserved or forfeited tendered numbers from the Pengarah (Branch Director). Prices are not fixed and subjected to change by JPJ.
6.Cash is preferred or alternatively postal money is acceptable.
Tips – Always be the earliest to buy running number once it is released and if you are looking for prominent numbers such as; 1, 118, 8888 and etc, then you may choose to tender.
C. Buying of Registration Numbers from Agent.
Buying of registration numbers could be quite simple and straight forward because you are dealing with an agent, at most times they will advice and assist to prepare all the necessary documents.
